It’s Annette Issler here… Can you believe it’s almost the end of January!  This newsletter should have gone out a few weeks ago.  But, like you, there’s never a dull moment around here.

It’s been pretty steady in the massage department, in spite of the uncertain job situation due to declining oil prices.  On Mondays and Fridays I’ve been working at Anew U in Leduc (right next to Tim Horton’s and Second Glance); I’ve started helping out at Euphoria Paradise on Tuesday and Thursday mornings until 2:30; and here at home, I’ve kept my steady Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Wednesday daytime schedule.  Ideally, one day, I’ll just be working from home.

As for the Iridology course, I finally got a bit of a handle on my iridology camera program from China – which was very poorly interpreted.  So, I’m slowly doing my practicum with that.  If you’ve signed up as a guinea pig, I’ll be calling you soon, if I haven’t already.

This month, I’m doing a colon cleanse as well as a sugar fast.  The colon cleanse I’m using is with a product called Lifiber.  I was using Lifiber back in the late ‘80’s.  Here’s a quick write up:  ”Unicity LiFiber® provides ample high-quality dietary fiber and herbs that are beneficial to the gastrointestinal tract. DECLUTTER  

January is famous for an official time to declutter and get organized!  It’s amazing how many things creep into our lives and our homes.  It’s sometimes hard to let things go, especially if they have sentimental attachment.  I’m constantly working on filling a bag that needs to the second hand store and yet, there’s still more!

Studies have shown , and I’ve even experienced this, that clutter in your home affects your emotions as well as your levels of anxiety.  I found a helpful article here:

When there is clutter, as there is at my desk/kitchen table as I write this, it affects our ability to focus.  It makes us feel as though our work is never done.  It distracts us from what we’d rather be doing or from what we should be doing.  Even just 15 minutes a day of focussed decluttering or organization at the end of each day, can help to put things in their rightful place.  I read a book a few years ago on the subject (I can’t remember it’s title) and she called clutter “homeless items”.  Some items are “homeless” and need to find a home; a place where they can be put, if we do want to keep them and a place where we can find them again.    We have a small house and I have a hard time figuring out what to keep, what can go, where to put things.

I know when my kitchen is a mess, which it usually is, my shoulders tighten up and my breathing becomes shallow.  I know this because, when it is tidy (which is rare), I am more relaxed and able to breathe freely.

Last summer when I was working at the downtown farmer’s market, the young gal whose booth was next to mine, started to chat with me about decluttering.  Her advice that she had learned was to pick up each item in your home and ask yourself if it brings you joy or not.  I thought that was a good suggestion and that has been my plum line for deciding what should stay and what can go.

DETOX

MASSAGE  

massage pix 008And, another great way to help your body to detoxify is by receiving a massage!  Toxins are stored in tight muscles and when you receive a massage things start to flush out of your system.  That’s why I try to remind my clients to drink water after their massage to assist in the flushing process.  As well, an Epsom salt bath is also helpful in eliminating toxins PLUS it is magnesium and we all need more magnesium which helps to relax your muscles.  If you’re interested in learning more about magnesium, I had shared this on facebook, but came across it again today.  Check out this link.
